On its own, this beast simply draws way too much power through the PCI slot, so this is a clever solution. I think the key is the custom power cable that OWC bundles with this card. Gotta say I was skeptical of plugging a non-supported PC card into the Mac and expect it to flame on with no problems.
10.14 and up requires the “metal” video card, and my stock system was no longer compatible. Hit the wall when OSX 10.14 was released, not to mention no more application updates.
